Research & Academic Work

Dr. Tina J. Wang’s academic work focuses on fascia and connective-tissue disorders, hypermobility, musculoskeletal ultrasonography, myofascial pain, and performing arts medicine. Her work includes peer-reviewed research, international scientific presentations, medical education, and interdisciplinary collaboration across clinical and basic science fields.

Her research seeks to translate emerging understanding of fascia and connective tissue into clinically useful approaches to diagnosis, imaging, and treatment.

Teaching & Workshops

 

Dr. Wang teaches physicians, rehabilitation professionals, manual therapists, and other healthcare professionals in fascia anatomy, musculoskeletal ultrasonography, hypermobility, and image-guided procedures. Her educational work combines scientific evidence, clinical reasoning, imaging, and hands-on instruction.

An interdisciplinary seminar for manual and hands-on therapists examining hypermobility spectrum disorders and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Topics include fascia, autonomic and immune-system interactions, clinical considerations in hypermobility, and the application of manual therapy approaches in hypermobile populations.

An interdisciplinary course addressing the evaluation and management of hypermobility spectrum disorders and Ehlers-Danlos syndromes. The course integrates movement and neuromuscular assessment, fascia, autonomic and immune-system considerations, imaging, clinical reasoning, manual approaches, motor planning, medical management, and cross-disciplinary care.

Ultrasound & Elastography: Translation from Science to Practice

Instructor

Lecture and hands-on ultrasound workshop examining fascia and muscle using B-mode ultrasonography and elastography, with particular attention to hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Instruction included ultrasound technique, fascial thickness and echogenicity, muscle stiffness, fascial glide, and imaging of the sternocleidomastoid, iliotibial tract, thoracolumbar fascia, and plantar fascia.
